Serial: 69x.xxx (1961).
Dial: Glossy chapter ring dial with the famous exclamation point at 6 o’clock. This indicates Rolex had reduced the intensity of radium used on the luminous material on the dial (index and hands) in order to comply with the evolution of the regulation in the early 1960s. It typically appears on 1961/62 Rolex dials. It will be followed by the underline in 1963/64 showing a more significant drop in radiation thanks to the use of tritium. The present dial is very glossy and the caramel color letters associated with an almost orange patina bezel instantly provides a warm sensation to whoever is starring at it. The hands react to UV test flashing green and quickly vanish as they should with tritium.
Case: this great case has the pointed crown guards and retains exact initial proportions with equidistant steel between the holes of the lugs and the edge. Not sign of polishing. Caseback: original 1675 with II.61 engraved (Q2 1961 matching the serial).
