The perpetual calendar of AP was developped in 1981. It was put in a Royal Oak case in 1984 with the ref. 5554 which quickly switched its reference name for 25554. The present watch belongs to a reference that leaved concomitantly: the 25636 which shares the same aesthetic but was mainly produced with skeleton dials. This beauty is proposing for many the best of most worlds: a true complication encased in a design masterpiece 39mm sports watch made of…platinum! Production years ranged from 1983 until 1993 but this reference was offered for sales between 1986 until 1996. Out of a total production of 264 pieces only in all metal combined, only 34 were ever made in platinum. (126 in yellow gold, 52 in steel, 49 two-toned and 3 pink gold. The presented timepiece is possible the LAST one produced as it is from Dec 1996.
Dial: Skeleton with blue subregisters and MK2 lettering. Original « needle hands » for hours/minutes and blued small hands for subregisters.
Case: Sharp 9.3mm thick case with minor polishing history. Stunning. Original crown without the AP logo. The bracelet is still standing up revealing its tightness.
Serial: D6XXXX-XXXXX-N°XXX from Dec-1996.
Movement: AP caliber 2120/2800 aka the thinnest self-winding movement in the world until 2019 when the new AP perpetual calendar was released.
Box & papers: AP winding box & cover box, certificat of origine & guarantee dated Dec1996, tag, stylus to adjust moon phases, fresh certificate of register.
Extremelly rare timepiece in exceptional condition.
