PATEK PHILIPPE
Unique first series brushed doré dial ref. 3941J
Yes 3941 not 3940. The 3940 is one of the longest produced reference of Patek Philippe. This perpetual calendar was a reaction to the quartz crisis threatening the industry of mechanical timepieces at the time. A few prestigious manufactures did not fully embrace the quartz movement trend and rather proposed complicated watches. However the timepiece we are offering here distinguishes itself by something more exceptional than the joy of proposing a perpetual calendar. In the aftermaths of clients’ reverse inquieries wishing to admire the 24Q micro-rotor movement, Patek decided to deliver a brand new sister reference allowing to see through the caseback: the very seldom seen 3941 was born and was among the first Patek Philippe to offer an open caseback. It was produced until 1990 after which the manufacture decided to offer a double caseback (metal + sapphire) on all 3940 references.
Only 35 have been produced of which 34 surfaced to the market so far. Out of the 8 first series type dials only 1 has a brushed doré dial variant making the current watch unique and the most coveted of them all.
