ROLEX GMT-Master
« Gilt Underline »
Ref. 1675

Following a change of regulation by the Atomic Energy Commission in the early 60s it was imposed to lower the radiation used in the dials. Rolex did not want to throw away all its pre-printed « SWISS » dials (meaning luminous in radium) and decided to put a small horizontal grey/white line (the underline!) on its freshly adapted compliant dials. This is only correct for year 1963 and 1964.

Serial:   1,00x,xxx (1964)

Dial:  absolutely superb gilt dial with puffy tritium index which are still perfectly glowing.

Case:  as close as possible of NOS condition. Truly mind-blowing case. Case back is engraved IV63 for last quarter of 1963.

Bezel: faded fat font bezel + an additional (and completely anachronistic!) black one.

Mouvement:  Valjoux 1560. The rotor was changed as no longer a butterfly.

Bracelet:  oyster bracelet 7206, 82 end links, later clasp 78360 VE.

Box & Papers: none.
