Important transitional underline Rolex timepiece in its « max » version with four lines SCOC glossy dial and sublime case.
Serial: 87x,xxx (early 1963 = transition year)
Dial: Respecting international regulation for radiation Rolex had to change the luminous material of its dial BUT did not want to throw away the existing inventory. They decided to apply a line on the dial to signal tritium luminous on a « SWISS » dial signaling the presence of Radium before 1962. This underline is often in white/silver. In this instance the « superlative chronometer officially certified » added after it gained this distinction is also in white/silver. Index in tritium are nicely retracted and are glowing & vanishing as they should. Hands are gilt and painted (not luminous).
Case: just a « wow » case with extremely thick and sharp lugs and pointed crown guard (PCG). Backcase is perfectly matching serial and period with « VI 62 » engraved (last quarter 1962).

Bracelet: brown shell cordovan leather with Rolex buckle in stainless steel.
