AUDEMARS PIGUET JULES AUDEMARS BUGATTI SERIES ref. 25921st

Pioneer in complications, the Jules Audemars collection has always paid tribute to one of the two founders of the brand. While the Royal Oak is pretty much exclusively intended for sports the Jules Audemars line is composed of watches with a more classic design. Yet the chronograph would fall in between. The current proposed timepiece was a special series called Bugatti in reference to the famous aluminum « perlage » dashboard of the racing sport car brand ithat one can find on the dial. This limited edition was produced exclusively for the German market in 150 pieces at the end of the 90’s (some say 50ex only).

Case: the classic 39mm round shape of the case features generous lugs and a very nice balance of satin brushed side vs shiny polished surface on both bezel and lugs. The later perfectly echoes the aluminum « perlage » of the dial. The caseback is engraved with a E serial from circa 1999.

Dial: a decidedly sporty look. The contrast of the black austerity reveals the silver of the aluminum « perlage » at the center of the dial and of the recessed silver subdials. White painted arabic numbers indexes are matching the skeleton hands while the red chrono hand rocks the whole dial to force the eye to focus on the main function of this chronograph: the tachymeter.

Bracelet: Audemars Piguet deployant buckle in stainless steel with a black safiano leather strap.

Movement: automatic caliber 2226/2841

Box and papers: instruction manual for the chronograph and original box & cover box.

A rarely surfacing timepiece with a pronounced racing and an immense sympathy capital.
