AUDEMARS PIGUET

Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar

Ref. 25654st

The perpetual calendar of AP was developped in 1981. It was put in a Royal Oak case in 1984 with the ref. 5554 which quickly switched its reference name for 25554. The present watch belongs to the successor reference : the 25654 which shares the same aesthetic. This beauty is proposing for many the best of both worlds: a true complication encased in a design masterpiece 39mm sports watch. Production years ranged from 1982 until 1993 but this reference was offered for sales for a longer period between 1983 until 1998. Out of a total production of 800 pieces in all metal combined, only 272 were made in steel. 422 in yellow gold, 72 two-toned, 33 platinum and 1 white gold. The presented piece is coming from a curated French collection.

Dial: Smooth silver dial with no tapisserie and MK2 letterings. Original « needle hands » for hours/minutes and blued small hands for subregisters.

Case: Likely never polished the 8.25mm thick case has certainly retained all that impressive thickness. The distance between the holes on the lugs and the edge is the best way to appreciate how unpolished the watch is. Exceptionnal.

Bracelet: standing very up. Sign of impecable condition. 18 links.

Serial: D44XXX-XXXXX-N°981 from Feb-1995.

Movement: AP caliber 2120/2800 aka the thinnest self-winding movement in the world until 2019 when the new AP perpetual calendar was released.

Box & papers: AP original guarantee, original winder box and cover box, moon phases instruction booklet and fresh extract from register.

Rare opportunity to seize one of the 272 pieces made in steel with its complete set, here preserved in fabulous condition. The real thing.
