Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar MK1 dial
The perpetual calendar of AP was developped in 1981. It was put in a Royal Oak case in 1984 with the ref. 5554 which quickly switched its reference name for 25554. The present watch belongs to the successor reference : the 25654 which shares the same aesthetic. This beauty is proposing for many the best of both worlds: a true complication encased in a design masterpiece 39mm sports watch. Production years ranged from 1982 until 1993 but this reference was offered for sales for a longer period between 1983 until 1998. Out of a total production of 800 pieces in all metal combined, only 272 were made in steel. 422 in yellow gold, 72 two-toned, 33 platinum and 1 white gold. The presented timepiece is coming from the original owner.
Dial: exceptional. Smooth silver dial with no tapisserie and MK1 letterings. Original « needle hands » for hours/minutes and blued small hands for subregisters.
Case: Sharp 9.3mm thick case with minor polishing history. Stunning. Original crown without the AP logo. The bracelet is still standing up revealing its tightness.
Serial: D40XXX-XXXXX-N°XXX from Sep-1994.
Movement: AP caliber 2120/2800 aka the thinnest self-winding movement in the world until 2019 when the new AP perpetual calendar was released.
Box & papers: AP wood winding box & cover box, certificat of origine & guarantee dated Sep1994, tag moon phase booklet, fresh certificate of register.
A highly collectible timepiece rarely seen with original paper and complete set but above all in exceptional condition.
